GY ENDGAME POST

GRAVEYARD - END GAME

It's been a long stay.

Seven weeks have elapsed since the gates to Aira Niluc were opened to guests of various worlds, and for seven weeks a game of trust and betrayal have whittled the living's numbers down until only a mere third remained on that side. And in exchange, the population of the dead grew as they continued their story on this side.

But the story is coming to a close, almost as if the world itself demands it.

Because sometime Friday morning, oddities start to become apparent within the fabric of this space: buildings starting to deteriorate as their colors start to fade, foods beginning to molder and rot, trees and mountains far in the background flickering briefly show sketch-like outlines before reverting back to normal. While most of the main locations remain fairly intact, there is no area on this side that lays untouched by the sense that this place is starting to unravel, bit-by-bit.

Still, the walls that separate you all from the living hold fast even now, not allowing any of the dead to cross through into the other side.

Perhaps that's not the point here, though. After all, you all still have your own ending to write, here and now.

[Welcome to the Graveyard's Endgame post! The previous posts for Weeks 2-5 and Weeks 6-7 have been linked above.]

[ once the raid is over: ]

She's in the palace. Deep inside, I think - Yor and I saw the sparkles outside and leading into the building but I don't think we saw her at all.

[ a pause, and: ] I suspect the palace is one of her strongholds, so we might have to lure her out into the open with the prospects of getting the last crystal, even if we have no intention of handing it over to her.

As long as we can keep Lucifer on the move, that would be a good lure, wouldn't it? Would we be able to have someone bring him on horseback to the rift?

If she could sense the location of the crystal, I feel she would have gone directly after its holder. There is little reason not to, after all -- though she may have other plans in the palace that we will need to go in to understand.

Therefore, letting her know the location of the crystal in any way should, I feel, be one of our last resorts as well.

Oh, that's true...

But wait, if she can't actually sense the location, couldn't we bluff her? We already showed our hand by confronting her, so it's probably believable that we got the crystal out without her knowing.

Ah, but the last known location of the crystal is at the ice maze itself, and that is one of the spots we are to lure her to, yes? It may be more to our advantage to point to that as the location -- so a bluff in that direction -- I think that may be helpful.

All she knows is it still exists. I don’t know if she’d fall for someone pretending to willingly offer it to her at this point, so provoking her into trying to claim it would be our best bet.

I see... It may be a challenge to lure her out, so our options could be more limited than we realized. Still, we have some things on our side -- I would advise saving the crystal as a last resort.

Thus, we may need to prepare to fight her at the palace as needed; if we could lure her out in the process, that would be ideal; but perhaps our first priority should be testing some of her weaknesses.

Should we enter the palace with that in mind?

Ya mentioned immunity ta fire, but perhaps settin' fire ta the palace could lure it out? No beast likes its den bein' threatened.

I truly don't know if she is immune or merely... strong to it? We are still making guesses, because we haven't engaged her. This is something we will still have to test...

On the other hand, she has said that our real bodies may be in the palace, under the execution room -- I do not know whether this is on the other side, or whether this matters.

But there must be a reason she is there...

I would think it'd be the other side, if only because that's where the death occurred. This place doesn't like logic though, so that could be wrong.

It could think that the palace is the most easily defensible plot of land. Most things with illusions of grandeur like to have castles.

[Is he speaking from experience? Well, his megalomaniac also has bug motifs, soooo]

Even if logical, there must be places here that connect to the other side -- if the palace houses one such place, or even the spot that she uses to move between the sides, then her guarding it could make sense.

[On the other hand, there's a few other maybe options?? Confusing. Jack just sort of hums in thought and amusement at the thought of a caterpillar sitting on a palace throne or something.]

Or it may be illusions of grandeur. In any case, we should make sure to shatter any more illusions here.
