End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

[Also looking around! Although she's still curious after Tenn mentioned the gumball machine, so she's specifically looking around for any hints that one might have existed somewhere on this side.]

[Welcome alternate exploration team, to the gelateria. It's still thankfully intact on this side, and while there is something unusual here to be found, it's not a thing that will reveal itself using the adder stone.

No, this thing only seems to appear when you look at it from the right angle, and just like last week--it seems to be a tear in space itself, just floating a little ways from the entrance.]

What the... Is this one of those tears you were talking about a few days back?

[ Norton's gonna take a closer look. ]

[ c-ta’s going to just… suck it up and go. fuck listening to ferry, i guess. ]

[WHY ARE WE DOING THIS AGAIN. She'll go after him, trying to move ahead of him if she can just in case '^']

[ didn’t ferry say the exact opposite ]

[ And then Norton was pushed through the tear by a crowd of overenthusiastic explorers. Whoops. ]

[Well, Norton will at least see the tear leads to a relatively dark-looking space with a bit of haziness in the air, but surely this is completely fine as everyone yeets themselves in.

Anyways, for all of our intrepid explorers, they'll find themselves in a strange place; for one thing, there doesn't really seem to be much of a delineation between the floor, the walls and the ceiling. They all seem to be dark and contain something akin to clouds or wisps of smoke that just continue to shift around them, giving the place a bit of an ethereal and unreal quality.

Still, the footing seems to be sure and there's no sounds or what whatever that indicate that something is like, trying to bumrush you and eat you so it's probably okay?! And there does seem to be some kind of passage forward, even if there's only some kind of dim light in the distance.]

Urgh...

[ Thanks. He sure did want to be yeeted into a dark void today. He did have his hat on him, thankfully. Maybe he'll dig in his pockets and...

... ]

Crap. Anyone think to bring a light?

[amortristis]

[ Well, she'll check to make sure everyone got in okay, and check to make sure they've got a way out again. ]

We have a sense of where we're going, at least.

[ But that's about all she adds before she starts cautiously moving towards the dim light. ]

Follow the light… don’t they usually tell people NOT to do that when they’re dying?

[ he chuckles a bit, aware of the irony. he follows. ]

[Raven follows along, trying not to bump into anyone along the way.]

Eh, it's not as final as it sounds anyway.

Besides, we're already dead?

[Just going to place a hand on C-ta's shoulder so she can be Aware of where he is.]

You sure this is a good idea? What if that thing closes on us?

[ That thing being the rift... And yet Norton's following along. Blindly. ]

It depends on how quick the death is. I can't recall ever seeing a light myself.

Anyways, while this passage is one-way at the moment, it is clear that it continues onwards beyond the dimly lit area, which apparently seems to be... a view of the gelateria? It's not anything like an actual window or anything, since that weird mistiness continues to swirl around it but this is similar to the tear you guys climbed through with all its uneven edges and all.

The difference is, this version of the gelateria seems to have been damaged by a small explosion in the middle?]

...I'd wonder if we somehow went in a circle or somethin', but this joint couldn't have gotten bombed that fast, could it?

[ His earlier misgivings fade into mist as he goes through this tear. ]

[Boop! That is to say, Norton will just feel like he's hitting a wall here, since the tear doesn't seem to allow people to pass through. Huh.]

...as far as we know, there's only two versions of every location here, right?
