End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

Anyways, while this passage is one-way at the moment, it is clear that it continues onwards beyond the dimly lit area, which apparently seems to be... a view of the gelateria? It's not anything like an actual window or anything, since that weird mistiness continues to swirl around it but this is similar to the tear you guys climbed through with all its uneven edges and all.

The difference is, this version of the gelateria seems to have been damaged by a small explosion in the middle?]

...I'd wonder if we somehow went in a circle or somethin', but this joint couldn't have gotten bombed that fast, could it?

[ This is one hole she will not climb into, because she can't, as she watches Norton and Rika sort of ram into it. ]

Beats me. It wasn't like that a couple minutes ago, though.

[...but then Norton bounces against the tear and that makes Raven tip his head curiously.]

...Is it not the same gelato joint?

[mearry]

oh what the hell. he doubts it’s worth it, but. adder stone, tell me the secrets of this tear, or whatever. ]

[It's...!

It looks the same? It looks the same.]

[mearry]

This rock is fucking useless.

[ okay TIME TO TURN AROUND. for good measure, adder stone, tell him the secrets of this dark corridor!

[ His earlier misgivings fade into mist as he goes through this tear. ]

[faentasy]

[Boop! That is to say, Norton will just feel like he's hitting a wall here, since the tear doesn't seem to allow people to pass through. Huh.]

[ He presses his hands against the tear. ]

What the...?!

[ He bangs his hand on the wall. Can he see anyone on the other side of the tear, or is it only scenery? ]

[mearry]

What happened?

[goldencave]

[ Groan... ]

There's some kinda invisible wall or something. We can't get through the tear!

[amortristis]

[ She'll come up and place her fingernail-less hand on the tear, and after a moment look back at C-ta. ]

You brought the adder stone with you, right? Maybe that'll help here.

[eternaljune]

Figures it wouldn't be that easy to get through, huh?

[Rika turns around and calls back.]

Yor! Do you have those knives on you?

[laytorest]

Oh! Yes, of course. Do you want me to try to... open... it?

[??????? She's pretty sure she can stab air, for what it's worth.]

That's an idea, but...I don't know if normal weapons will do much more than anything else. We'll have to try salt on the weapon, maybe...

...as far as we know, there's only two versions of every location here, right?

[Her self-preservation has always been a work in progress, so Rika's going in after Norton.]

[ Good luck with that invisible wall, kid. ]
