End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

The living haven't been ignoring your letters
We'd been trying to prove that Jack and McGillis were the traitors for weeks
(I'm not sure why Tenn didn't just. Tell you that?)
We don't talk about it at trials much because trials are on a time limit
But we were working on it
We broke into Jack's room

It's likely that Tenn also has some restrictions on what he can say. Or maybe he didn't want to say anything until he was one hundred percent sure.

But it would have helped with you getting pissed at us last week and the living getting pissed back

Yeah, well, I can't control Tenn's shitty life decisions.

[ he is going to be completely unapologetic about the notes ]

From our perspective, none of you were acting on the information that we were sending through, and the puzzles were also something like a distraction.

There was a code that we sent to Tenn and Tenn alone, since none of you were trustworthy [ burn. ] and he confirmed he received it, so I suppose it doesn't really matter if none of the living listen to us any longer.

Literally the majority of the living were in Tenn's group
He was also one of the people who decided that we shouldn't kill the traitors even if we proved it was them

Oh maybe he can befriend them too.

I don't think befriending was the goal
But he said their information was more useful alive than dead

We had no way of knowing that, didn't we? Our only sources of information were the trials, the newly dead like yourself telling us things of any importance, Tenn's letter, which we know by now that he was probably under some kind of restrictions like we were so as not to put Ferry at risk.

When the best information we can get is "discussions about the traitors were shut down very quickly" I think that's a fair assumption to make that you were ignoring us.

[ suga is getting liam's very withering teacher look because the ic salt is real ]

[ BUT ALSO YOU KNOW WHAT, liam is just going to crumple a piece of paper and throw it at the floor because tenn. why. traitors are traitors for a reason!!!!! ]

1. Why would we have discussions about the traitors in front of the traitors
2. Raven was in the group that was privately discussing the traitors and how to prove their identity

Well, I suppose if you guys didn't want us sending anything at all, they could've been an option since it doesn't really affect the whole trying to get these seals things that we can't talk about anyway.

[ she shrugs. What did she bother to work hard for again? ] Too late now, I guess.

Now I'm seriously considering sending a sudoku.

Right. I don't know what I was expecting for Jack to be useful, McGillis probably is more likely to be the one with incriminating evidence, if not in Hamelin's office.

I think we would've tried McGillis next
But it's moot now

I truly don't know what you expected to find. I am also fairly sure McGillis would not have had anything incriminating? For one, he is far more careful than me.

[WELL HE'S JUST STILL SITTING HERE WITH AN OIL LAMP, Y'KNOW. No big. It's not like the mushroom doodle somehow led to attempted murder. Sure is a graveyard in here.]

Ah. I think you'll recall that Alexei was particularly cross in that trial, so in order to make him appear less intimidating, I took inspiration from the nearest object.
