It's been a long stay.

Seven weeks have elapsed since the gates to Aira Niluc were opened to guests of various worlds, and for seven weeks a game of trust and betrayal have whittled the living's numbers down until only a mere third remained on that side. And in exchange, the population of the dead grew as they continued their story on this side.

But the story is coming to a close, almost as if the world itself demands it.

Because sometime Friday morning, oddities start to become apparent within the fabric of this space: buildings starting to deteriorate as their colors start to fade, foods beginning to molder and rot, trees and mountains far in the background flickering briefly show sketch-like outlines before reverting back to normal. While most of the main locations remain fairly intact, there is no area on this side that lays untouched by the sense that this place is starting to unravel, bit-by-bit.

Still, the walls that separate you all from the living hold fast even now, not allowing any of the dead to cross through into the other side.

Perhaps that's not the point here, though. After all, you all still have your own ending to write, here and now.

[The fact that he is here is about as much spine as you can expect of a mostly powerless human(?), because there is spine and then there is stupidity, and therefore he is not taking the stupid route of attempting close combat first off when he has BOMBS.

Speaking of bombs, Jack will reach back and detach one from his braid, holding up one of the cherry bombs.]

It seems rather foolhardy to simply walk up to the door.

Shall we knock?

Are you worried it could be a trap?

I could throw the bomb for us if you'd like.

[And we all know she's got very strong, very precise throws, thanks C-ta.]

Well, the last time we met, she did attempt to eat Samidare here -- so I propose that we dispose of the door first.

[He'll just hand Yor the bomb?? This is fine??]

Okay. Let's move back first, though.

[And once they're all at a safe distance, it's time to THROW SOME EXPLOSIVES AT THE DOOR]

[The cherry bomb goes sailing into the door, detonating and throwing a number of shrapnel bits around and searing juice, leaving the floor stained with red as the blast rocks the door and basically slams it shut. It's not enough to take the door off its hinges, although it looks more... glitchy than before where the blast impacted it the most, with clumps of black matter just littering the floor like fragments of nothingness as the door remains on its hinges albeit with what looks like some chunks taken out of it.

It's still hard to see what's beyond the door considering the damage was still comparatively minor, but nothing else seems to have happened...?]

[Not much bang for our buck there, huh? Well... Time to properly arm himself with his sword!!]

Stay here, and be ready. I'm going ta open it, then move outta the way.

[Laughing a little sheepishly.]

Well, I suppose the void won that round?

[It was the fucking door, Jack. He gives a friendly wave and... prepares another bomb! Though he also takes out a salmiakki fish, so his first tactic actually isn't blowing everyone else sky-high, at least.]

[ .........that was really anticlimactic.

She's just going to live up to all the stupid shit she's done so far, and open the fucking door herself, sword in hand. ]

[Well, the door opens up just fine even if some more dark chunks come off it when it moves. And beyond that--

It's the void. Just the void, since the trail of sparkles seems to end right there. It's probably anticlimactic if not for the ominous feeling it automatically imparts, as anyone looking into it will instinctively understand that they do not want to step in there.

But also while we're here, a question:

Was anyone looking up? Or more accurately, did anyone look right above the entrance of the stairwell everyone had been holed up in?]

[Well, they would have had to check the clearance of everything in order to lob the bomb, and we are doing our best to look out for absolutely any twitch of movement, so:

If there is something on the fucking ceiling--

1. He hates climbing caterpillars he should have remembered the tower thanks he hates this and his sword is out at the same time as;
2. He hands a salmiakki fish to whoever wants to give them cover whenever and wherever they can get it and;
3. He reaches inside his coat for an ice orb because the ceiling to a stairwell is not a great place to find a gigantic bug THANKS

IF THEY CAN ICE AIRY TO THE CEILING OR AT LEAST SLOW HER DOWN MAYBE THEY CAN GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS JOINT????]

[ Oh opps, they should've checked all directions. Well after Jack throws the ice orb, she'll aim a snowball to Ferry's face and then maybe a water... sack at her general body? then throw herself down the stairs, rolling to lessen the impact. ]

[ Well, she certainly let her impatience get the better of her. Oopsie! Junko will duck and cover and. Try to start jetting down the stairs. It's probably a little hard since she's the one closest to the void, she opened the door itself. If she can't get close she will be stabbing any caterpillar body parts that get too near her. ]

[Just rolling this in to say I forgot to note that he will also be fucking throwing himself down the stairs if there is a possibility of doing so!! Also since he's a musician please imagine him saying the incantation as fast as a car salesman, because this is fine.]

[Gin had also been close to the void door, and foolishly thought the others were safer back in the stairwell. He has Several moments of staring into the void room for danger before he hears the scuffling and screams and books it for the stairwell. He makes sure all the others have managed to go before him, and he’s going to try and watch the ceilings as he jumps down the staircases in case something lunges after them.]

Is this how you all greet a friend?

[What, with all the random ice, snow and water balloon being aimed at her and all that. Still, this is 10 ft of giant bug and then some here, so that much ice magic isn't enough to stick her to the ceiling even if she does seem to try to block it with one or two of her arms as she literally just slams down onto the floor from the ceiling. Hopefully you got out of the way for that unless someone wants to be a pancake today! As the floor practically craters under the weight, other hairline cracks form in the hallway as a whole, the fragile seams of the place starting to dissolve in some places as the void seems to extend a little from where it originally was at behind the door.

Everyone can run, but Ferry will pursue as they go, seemingly sweeping apart the wall rather casually as they fragment into bits before fading out into something like charcoal lines. All the meanwhile, she'll be spewing out masses of thin threads to entangle their feet and slow them down.]

I think we can both agree, you are no friend of mine!!!

[Jack manages this at some point but he's also busy putting fingers into his mouth and letting off a truly impressive blast of a whistle, something that echoes all through the halls even above the din of all their magic and all the destruction Ferry is wreaking.

He'll use his sword to start cutting all these threads trying to slow him down, but hopefully William's gotten the message and they are all ready to greet Ferry at the door because BOY THEY SURE GOT THE CATERPILLLAR TO MOVE BUT UHHHHhhhhhhhh.

EVERYBODY RUN FASTER ALSO THAT VOID DOESN'T SOUND GOOD]

So much for wanting to kill her, huh!!

[ Gonna use that spike on the brass knuckle to try to cut threads if she can and run faster, yup. ]

[She's swiping at what threads she can with her iron needle blade, but she'll also try throwing a small pouch of salt back at Ferry as they run.]

This is. A little harder than she expected. Hm. She trails along and cuts the threads with her sword, intent on keeping a solid pace at the rear of the group. ]

[This is like all the worst zanpakuto shoved together, especially annoying since he doesn’t have his own!! Or kido!! The sword is useful at least, and he’s cutting as much of the string as he can as he brings up the rear of the group. If someone slips or needs help, he’ll none-too-gently hustle them further. ]

[There's a rumbling bit of laughter at Samidare's comment as they casually swat that pouch of salt away from them, leaving it to spill out on the ground.]

How quick you are to assume. Just because you've all outlived your usefulness does not mean my plans have changed. It's simply a shame that I need to dispose of such useful pawns at the very end.

[But since they're getting out at this rate--]

Don't think I'll let you escape so easily! Stop them!

[faekery]

[And at that, the rest of the fairies come to life despite having been nothing but dull and puppet-like after C-ta, Riku and Nageki's provocation. Now, they flit about high in the sky, bodies all glimmering with light as a tangible veil of light appears in front of the palace gates and the path to the archives, preventing anything from escaping the palace area.

And all the while, Airy continues to chase and chase.]
