End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

She has certainly departed from her role in several ways.

So far as I know, she is meant to watch the shop, oversee the dead, and lead them around in circles rather than giving them anything actually productive.

My guess is that she used knowledge of the so-called traitors to gain trust, stringing you all along with lies about the scale of the game and our importance. In doing so, she could count on you to cooperate with her for that period of time.

Then, her own plans must rest upon using the dead — either to stock the crystals that she calls seals and that B calls sustenance, or something beyond that as well.

Well we certainly do a lot of that too. Then there's so many of us, some of us do... other things.

[ That may or may not be sketchy sounding but gives them some insight into their environment. ]

Ha-ha, I wondered whether we simply inflated your numbers too much. An army of spirits is still an army, after all.

[An army of spirits with pens…… haunted pen pals are a pain…]

[ Ignores the former thing because. Yeah, thanks. ]

They're doing their own investigations. C-ta is the one who always does them, so you can grill him for details about all the stuff he's been doing. They found the map and stuff too.

[ ......fine, he'll play nice. ]

Our numbers have definitely grown since I started, but yeah, I've been in all of them. What do you wanna know?

Ah, how hardworking.

[That actually doesn't sound insincere?? Weird. It's matter-of-fact rather than an out-and-out compliment but. Progress!]

Well, I hardly know where to start, but what is this about a map?

[mearry]

Mm.

[ c-ta nods. he doesn’t have the map with him so he’ll borrow one of suga’s papers to make another one, which he’ll hand to jack. ]

Here. We’ve come to the conclusion that this is where the crystals have been found, if we use the Clock Tower, where the first crystal was at, as its center. Gin-san and I found this inside a small box with an iron lock in a room inside the Royal Palace.

If we are to say that these are connected to the crystal seals, that most likely B has hidden and defended... What was it that Ferry said? That they were part of what is powering this realm? Therefore, extracting the essence of them means...

[They still don't know what it means, but uhhh.]

And you said you found it with an iron lock, which must mean it is defended against fairies. And yet Ferry somehow came by this information-- [local fairy continues to be suspiciously possibly immune to iron] --did she say how she was able to obtain the locations of the seals as well as the knowledge of their purpose?

[mearry]

We didn’t get this informafion from Ferry. If anything, I tried asking her about it and she didn’t seem like she knew either.

[ … ]

We snuck in. The door was open and there were no fairies around, so… [ he shrugs. ]

But then we must ask again: how did she come by her own information? If these seals are defended by B, and if this information was locked in a box... Then how does Ferry know about the existence and location of the crystal seals? She must be extremely good at getting into things she shouldn't -- that is the impression I have at this point.

[Seriously..... All their problems are somehow related to Ferry sticking her nose into literally everything. Hmmm.]

Do you know what sort of room it was, where the box was found? Was it B's as well?
