GRAVEYARD PT. II

GRAVEYARD

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

[For the first time, rather than not reacting to the affection being shown to him, Professor Pericles leans into the scritches, a small smile on his beak.]

Understood. I have not been very goot in the past, but I promise zat I vill be better in the future.

[Grandpa birb is valid and loved.]

[He is...still not unused to praise for being good, but it's getting there!]

[Grandpa Crime Birb does not deserve this and he knows it.]

The emerald necklace sits for a moment, before being removed, and offered up on a wing.]

You might be able to cross vone worlt off the the list, in zat case. I intend to never return to my worlt, if given the choice. I do not vant to risk becoming...somesing zat I now despise.

I personally would be happy to have you there, but. 1. Talking birds aren't really commonplace so you might have trouble finding somewhere you're accepted My village is small and quiet and being associated with me would make you disliked by default even if you were human 2. I'm bringing C-ta with me and it's going to be really awkward rooming with a couple.

From vhat I've heard of your village, it really only sounds as zough there is no company vorth being near apart from your own and perhaps the ozer person who understands the dangers of the spirit. Plus, I am used to being on the more...unpopular site, to put it simply.

Possibly a handful, but I agree zat I coult see myself enjoying her company.

Ze only immediate issue that comes to mind is whezer or not she coult convince her parents to get a pet birt, if we do not try to keep myself a secret to zem altogether.

I promise you that if she announced that she was getting a pet bird they would just be glad she was showing interest in something normal

Luckily, I am not against acting somevhat more docile if a situation calls for it. I can stay silent vhen near zem if necessary.
