End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

[ he is staring at suga like he grew a second head tbh. ]

You let people tease you and understand that they don't mean anything bad by it
You don't keep up a perfect facade all the time
You're opening up to me honestly right now

It's not an instant change
It takes work and time
But you are improving

[ … he grimaces a little, though still smile. ]

I… I’m… if you say so. It’s just hard to see that when… I’ve done such horrible things.

Does doing bad things mean there's no point in trying to be better in the future?
I think if that were true
The world would be a very sad place

[Despite everything, he still believes that the world is a good place to live.]

[mearry]

[ a long pause.

he grabs the memo pad.

he tries a couple times, and erases it each time. eventually, he shows it to suga. ]

It doesn’t mean that.

It means that I’m scared of the future. Even if it’s with you.

[He leans over to kiss C-ta's forehead.]

[ he gets a kiss! c-ta smiles wryly as he continues writing. half to suga, half to let his thoughts out. no wonder a-ya did this. ]

I won’t. You’re right.

It’s the guilt that I’m scared of.

I'll be here to help you with it

[mearry]

[ c-ta smiles warmly at him, stealing a kiss from him.

when he pulls back, he’s looking up at him. ]

The moon’s beautiful, isn’t it?

Looking at the stars together like this... it's romantic

[He reaches for C-ta's hand to squeeze.]

[mearry]

You’re a romantic at heart, aren’t you?

[ he squeezes suga’s hand back, leaning his head on his shoulder. ]

When I'm with you I am

[It's fine to snuggle up like this, right? They'd hear anyone coming up the stairs.]

[mearry]

Softie. [ he says it with the same soft smile, giving his hand a squeeze. ]

[gemuinemanagement]

[He nods. Yep! A total dweeb.

He lightly turns C-ta's face up with his hand on his cheek and steals a kiss. And another one. And maybe one more for good measure.]

[mearry]

[ oh my god what a romantic nerd. c-ta is both slightly amused and increasingly flustered.

he will lean into that hand though. ]

[Writing on C-ta's cheek.]

I love you

[mearry]

[ suga please don’t be that embarrassing he has a status to keep—okay, no he doesn’t.

which is why, despite blushing furiously, he reaches for suga’s memo. ]

I love you too.

[gemuinemanagement]

[Picks up that memo and puts it in his pocket. He's keeping this, thanks.]

[mearry]

[ he laughs a little, pulling out the letter from his pocket. ]

Now we match.

[gemuinemanagement]

[New memo so he can write on a fresh one.]

I'll keep it with me always
So when I'm sad I'll think about how much you love me and how much I love you
