GRAVEYARD

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

So basically, we're reliant on them for killing it to even revive? [ Great. She shuffles through her notecard. ]

[Nods, a little glumly.]

Well, if they weaken them enough then we could possibly manage to break through anyway, but they're going to need to do most of the work on their side.

That's great, when they hardly seem to know much about it seems like. But then again neither do we...

[ ... she glances up and doesn't see much of a reaction from c-ta, so well might as well go for it. ]

By the way, it seems like the crystals are souls of children? What's that about? And if those are, so are the seals then. Then what's happening when you're absorbing them?

[There's a beat where they just stare back at Sami for a bit before they jolt forward with eyes wide and their hands in tiny fists at their chest.]

H-Huh?! Wait, where did you get that idea from?

Hmm? Apparently if we look at the crystal with that stone (and maybe the magnifying lens?) we can see childrens' faces or something? [ She tilts her head. ] Is that wrong?

Wait, really? [They look taken aback here.]

I've never used the magnifying glasses on it before, so I didn't know you could see that.

[ So Ferry's probably not evil and just... using these as they are: sources of power. ]

I see. Well, if you didn't know. [ She hands them a magnifying glass. ] You can check sometime.

[ Back to questions. ] Oh yeah, so I did ask what'll happen to bodies if they're not... intact before. Is that still the case? What if someone's body was entirely blown up? [ Looks at Nageki. ]

[There's a quizzical look at the magnifying glass as they hold it.]

...Sure? [They have like 50000 of these in the back room so this gesture is mildly confusing?? Anyways, bodies huh.]

Oh, um. I-I'm sure we can figure something out with magic! Maybe... maybe we can just make him a new one?

Do you have any stuffed animals around?

[ c-ta is basically asking to get bullied at this point. ]

Thank you for volunteering to get haunted.

Oooh, terrifying! After dealing with the void, I think I can handle a bird.

Do you really want me there to constantly comment on your terrible life decisions? Because I can always ask the professor to perfect the art of perching.

Oh! [They puff out their chest a little, showing off the brooch at their chest.]

Well, I absorb the power into my brooch! That allows me to deactivate the crystal and the seal!

... I see. Do you mind if I watch how you carry it out this week? I'd like to see it for myself.
