End Game

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

THE VOID

[purefuries]

[ Junko's been dead silent the entire time, but she eventually speaks up when everyone else has said their part. ]

Outside, in the ice maze, I gazed upon a blank canvas of nothingness.

[ .... ]

I saw one who passed a week before flitting at the edge of the maze. In hindsight, it was clear trickery, but... [ a soft sigh. ] In any case, I followed. Twas a strange domain of pure white, an absence of color from the land itself. How truly beautiful.

And then, ah--something curled its nether fingers 'round my ankle and pulled me underneath, though there was no ground for me to hit.

That is all I remember before arriving here.

[mearry]

Pure white…

[ … ]

Did you get a look at the hand that grabbed you?

[purefuries]

No. [ .... ] I was taken entirely off-guard. An atrocious mistake on my part.

[mearry]

That’s alright. It’s still great information.

[ … ]

Will the game be over when all of us are dead, then? [ he thinks for a moment. ] What if his “family” or whatever are just the people that Hamelin can keep safe?

[purefuries]

What do you mean?

[ the mafia stuff went a little over her head ]

[mearry]

His two—well, three—traitors are all part of this family to get the game to continue— or so we heard from our messenger. We guess that there must be some benefits to it. Hamelin isn’t exactly cute enough to win people with looks alone.

[ he points to jack. ]

He’s one of them. But if you want violence, don’t attack him here, please. Ferry-san’s very protective about their shop.

[purefuries]

Hmm? I've no reason to attack him.

[ She nods, but she doesn't look too shocked, either. ]

[mearry]

Just saaayiiiing~

[ from the guy that slit his throat just a couple hours ago. ]

A pure white domain...the others have seen something like that through the magnifying glasses, right?

Maybe...that creature dragged you into our realm directly rather than through being killed like the rest of us.

[mearry]

Maybe it thinks it’s not getting enough victims.

Hamelin's announcement
Hang on

[In the most obnoxious cursive he can manage:]

"Junko is dead but don't worry about having to play detective, none of you killed her. At least none of you on this side!"

...you know, it's impressive how you managed to capture how grating his voice is with writing alone.

But none of us killed Junko, so...it had to be the creature in the mirror then, right?

[purefuries]

[ she's gonna snap hamelin's flute over her knee and then beat him up with both pieces of it ]

[mathodical]

... Like the white wall at the shrine.

[libirdian]

But if it is that dangerous, why didn't it attack when we used a magnifying glass?

[mearry]

Maybe because we’re already close enough to it? But that doesn’t explain why the black void will attack.

He also said something like [more obnoxious cursive] "that's what happens when you take everything at face value!"
I thought that meant Junko saw a hallucination and died while following it but
Maybe it's something that's less hostile if you see its true form?

[purefuries]

That statement is technically not incorrect. I witnessed Morgan sitting atop a snowbank and followed her, after which I perished.

[ so. ]

[mearry]

Morgan-san was already dead by that point. So it just lured you.

It could be because it's through a mirror, considering what happens when we stare at it for too long.

[purefuries]

[ she thinks about this for a moment ]

The shrine door had to be forcibly opened, did it not?

[libirdian]

Miss Yor opened it for us on this side, yes.
