GRAVEYARD PT. II

GRAVEYARD

The world is black. And then you blink at your plate.

A portion of your favorite dish greets your eyes, albeit in a form you may never have seen it in before. Encased in a thick, wobbling layer of multi-colored gelatin, the food you know and love now sits suspended in its protein-based enclosure as an eccentric re-imagining of the dish. Furthermore, it only takes a glance to see that the rest of the dining table's spread shares this same theme, as every single dish, sweet or savory, finds itself victim to a jiggling Jell-o jail.

Still, you won't have much time to take this all in before a quiet, high-pitched giggling makes its way to your ears, only crescendoing in volume the longer you sit in this oh-so-familiar dining room. It doesn't take much to find the source of the sound either; unlike the other side, this place is absolutely teeming with fairies to the point where the fluttering of their iridescent wings is clearly audible behind the din of their laughter. As you come to your senses, dozens and dozens of beady eyes watch with their tiny faces stretched out in a wide grin, before speaking in unison.

"Welcome, we can't wait to serve you!"

As the fairies erupt in raucous laughter all around you, at least one more thing is readily apparent: however you met your end, your body is completely whole again. You also have company at the table with you, although whether it's desirable company or not may depend on the circumstances surrounding your death.

In any case, there's nothing stopping anyone from leaving the dining room and roaming freely as usual, and most of the same areas that were available to you on the other side are still present here, albeit with some differences. And though your life may have been stolen from you, it still looks like you have a part in this tale, somehow, someway.

So, will you let your story finish here, or will you write your own ending?

[Welcome to the Graveyard! This is part 2 of the GY post for Weeks 6 and 7. The previous post for Weeks 2-5 is linked above. Please also view the GY doc linked above for a full rundown of the basics. You may also still submit for items and gacha rolls using the GY shop post.]

[Um, okay. Suga doesn't really know what's going on yet, but he knows better to argue with dead people about deadland. He stands up and follows the pair wherever they're leading him to.]
libirdian: (unusual conversations)

Yes, the general store. We're having our meeting soon after they...welcome Mister Jack as well.

[ He closes his eyes for a moment as he says that, still walking. Then he quickly turns towards Suga, looking apologetic once again. ]

Sorry, Mister Suga, it's not quite safe to talk here, but we can explain more at the store.
goldencave: (This is how you remind me)

[personal profile] goldencave 2021-07-11 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

[ He'll just lead Suga away... Though he takes a second to glance at the disaster about to unfold around Jack...

No, let's just... Focus on going to the general store. ]
gemuinemanagement: (and pulse to pulse)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-11 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[He has a feeling that he doesn't really want to turn around and look.

As soon as they make it inside the store, he pulls a paper out of his pocket and jots down a note.]

So they caught Jack and not McGillis?

[ Before they settle down, Nageki's going to leave a line of salt at the doorway, all while saying "Sorry, Ferry, I'll throughly clean this up after". Once he does, he'll offer Suga a jar of water and an absolutely stupid amount of cookies. ]

Mister Jack was announced as your killer and...well, considering the end of the trial...

[ He trails off there, not sure if he should immediately say this when Suga just woke up. ]
lastreward: (this is juice)

[personal profile] lastreward 2021-07-11 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[ waves at them as they go through, she's just waiting outside the doorway, and just quietly standing there. ]
goldencave: ("I love you ")

[personal profile] goldencave 2021-07-11 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Waving at Sami as they pass through... ]

Yeah, I think he gave away the other traitor while he was at it.

[ Thank god Nageki has cookies and such. Norton just leans on the counter and crosses his arms... ]

How are you holding up, Suga?
gemuinemanagement: (people come and people go I know)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-11 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Waves at Sami? Long time no see.

He sips water while he writes.]

I'm OK
I didn't trust either of them
So it's not like they could betray my trust
libirdian: (reading books)

[personal profile] libirdian 2021-07-11 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, we have three traitors since Miss Yuri is on their side as well... No wonder why Hamelin got mad and was only fine with clues pointing to raven-haired guys.

[ Sigh. The things they can't say without risking their fairy ally. ]
goldencave: (and beaten and blistered)

[personal profile] goldencave 2021-07-11 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Nod. ]

Sorry about the letters, by the way. We had to make sure that bastard didn't get too suspicious and kill off our ally here.
gemuinemanagement: (now all the late night bars)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-11 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[So Yuri's a traitor. That's... a lot more complicated, feelings-wise, which is why he shoves it deep inside to examine later.]

I understand you had to encode things
But the passive-aggression this week really didn't accomplish anything
Except get non-traitors to start openly saying that we should ignore your letters
And casting more doubt on the previous letters you've sent us
libirdian: (mourning dove)

[personal profile] libirdian 2021-07-11 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...So you all really were ignoring us after all. Looks like our information there was right.

[ That's rather disappointing, but he already figured that much. Trying to have more faith in the living that they do listen is rather hard when that's all they hear every week from the newcomers. ]
goldencave: (I’ll never give in)

[personal profile] goldencave 2021-07-11 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[ There isn't much but heavy sighing from Norton here. ]
gemuinemanagement: (let's type words)

[personal profile] gemuinemanagement 2021-07-11 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
No???
We've been trying to get conclusive proof that Jack and McGillis are the traitors for weeks
We broke into Jack's room!
We've been very careful about limiting what we let them know about our investigations!
We've been working as hard as we can????
libirdian: (lecture time)

[personal profile] libirdian 2021-07-11 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
...Looks like we should tell you a little about our limitations here.

[ Well, he's gotten better at explaining things lately, so here goes. ]

We don't know anything that happens to the living outside of trials, Mister Kujo's letters, and whatever the newcomers tell us happened last week. So we try to write letters based on what Mister Kujo tells us, and mostly stick to our own investigation of this side. Most of which we can't talk about normally. We can give you a rundown of the results later. It's...a lot to summarize at once.

[ Especially keeping last week in mind. ]

Our letters are 100 words only, and unless heavily coded, cannot contain anything that could compromise us or our fairy ally, Ferry. [ He'll gesture towards the shopkeeper fairy. ] They're the reason why we could send letters in the first place.

[ He'll pause here, head tilted. ]

Did you want me to repeat anything?

[ over in the distance! ]

I don't think it was passive at all. [ gy is active aggression. ]
