CAPOREGIME

𝕮
𝖆𝖕𝖔𝖗𝖊𝖌𝖎𝖒𝖊
McGillis and Jack you are the Caporegimes.

After the events of the Welcome Feast, McGillis and Jack will hear a particular melody of a flute, following it (no matter how long it takes) will lead them to an emerald door that is slightly ajar.

On the desk sits a man with light blond hair and an eyepatch, flute between his lips.

❦ The caporegimes are Hamelin's captains, and responsible for making sure that murders happen in a timely cadence. Mainly this is achieved by the caporegimes selecting an effect each week that affects the group at large starting week two. However, Hamelin encourages murder by any means necessary, so a Caporegime who talked someone into murder would be just as welcomed. Manipulation is A-OK!

❦ Effect selection must be agreed upon by Monday 10 AM EST/7AM PST. This can be done entirely on an OOC basis by responding to the weekly thread by any time prior to the deadline. If you would like to thread out selection among the caporegime's and Hamelin, feel free to!

❦ In exchange, the caporegimes will not be required to kill in order to obtain their wish. As long as a murder occurs every week, their wish will be granted at the conclusion of the game. Additionally caporegimes are immune from the weekly effect (but may still find it in their interest to fake it, if necessary).

❦ OOC'ly as long as there is a kill proposal every week, (sans week 1), the caporegimes will be fulfilling their role. In the event of no kill proposals, one of the caporegimes will be tapped to murder that week though they may still select the victim of their choice.

❦ To seal this vow for all parties, both caporegimes will be branded with a symbol at the location of their choosing. It will not be visible unless Hamelin or the caporegime wills it, or in the event of the death.

❦ You can use this page to thread out capo-capo interactions or in a group with Hamelin as you wish. You may still use Hamelin's private post as necessary.

❦ You may divulge your role at any point in the game you like, and to any numbers of characters you like. Be aware, however, that there is no protection offered to the caporegimes. Additionally, there are other roles in the game who may try to thwart your efforts.

Week 1 Motive Debate

[ Well, time to get to work. The trial was a little disconcerting to him for all the wrong reasons, but he's caught himself entirely now that it's a full day later. There's more murder to facilitate - and that part, he does not feel bad about. ]

Not a very broad selection... but I see how both of these are compelling. Nightmares already appears to be a common thread among many of us...

Hmm. Our discussions in the court do seem to indicate that many are already used to seeing things that disturb their rest in their dreams; perhaps to having their rest disturbed as well.

It's been some time since I had to deal with such things...

[Jack is sat with his legs crossed and at ease -- he's cast off all the seeming weariness of the previous day, for a murder, an investigation and a whole trial all in one day will be a burden even on those whom it doesn't especially concern -- and is tapping light musician's fingers against his knee.

His expression is a little more clinical than the last time, sunk in thought.]

But I believe that a more targeted approach is better than simply increasing their desires in the other case. Humans are easy to lead by the nose when it comes to what they want... anything they want.

[ The tension in this room is, as always, a very different kind of tension. To call it a space where their masks come off would be entirely false, but they can don different masks - crueler ones, masks that allow for true thoughts to slip through and that leave only the feelings caged. Calling it relaxing would be perverse, but for just now, McGillis really thinks it is. ]

Increased desire seems to me like it would need more guidance from our part. The human heart is whimsical and can be lead into any which direction, indeed.

I would be more partial to that option if I felt any of the others trusted me enough to be nudged in the right direction, yet.

[It's hard to say what Jack thinks of this place just yet -- this posse, such as it is. He's necessarily shown more of his cards or perhaps more of his facets with them so far than the rest of their unfortunate ensemble, but that, too, is just another rung in the ladder he's been climbing since time immemorial.

Reaching the top doesn't necessarily mean you ever stop climbing.

He holds up one finger and nods, smile slight but gleaming. A sliver of approval.]

Oh, it's early yet. We will have to be guides once we are more settled, and once all the truths of the situation settle upon them, but just for the moment they seem able to lead themselves to disaster quite competently.

We have so very, very many devoted to their own ideals here. [a breath of a laugh, because discussing this here has an entirely different dimension] But more to the point, they cannot distract themselves so well with their other desires if we pin them with the needle.

That is the other reason I brought up the nightmares option.

[ Indeed, disaster seems to be the pretty unavoidable end result of the trajectory the group had put themselves onto this week. The more optimistic and friendly ones had been confronted with the concept of pathological liars for maybe the first but absolutely not the the last time. McGillis has no doubts that Jack and himself aren't the only ones with skeletons in the closet left. ]

Seems like we are making an easy decision this week.

[ And after a beat: ] Considering the intimate personal experience with night terror, I suppose I could play into the commiseration angle to garner more trust and sympathy. Just as credit to cash in on later.

[ But that would require disclosing more of himself... maybe he'll have to perfect the art of half truth a little, to seem convincing. ]

Let us call it an experiment. It will be their and our first go-around with such a new element, and I daresay it will exert a little more pressure on those already beginning to crack.

[He curls a hand against his chin, fingers tapping lightly against his lips; beneath them, his mouth curves, something just a little predatory in the bow of it. It's there and gone and somehow fleeting, and shifts to match his tone when he speaks again, simple soft contemplation.]

I know not whether a gathering would be helpful each time a trial is held -- it's a wonderful opportunity to observe the workings of the group, both those who attend and those who refuse to attend. But there is such a thing as too much togetherness. We shall see how Miss Edelgard and others of her ilk use their powers of leadership and persuasion from here on out.

[Sometimes, you hold an afterparty both for the sake of bringing everyone together and for the sake of flushing out those left out; the cracks in a group are important, after all, no matter how they move forward.]

In the meantime, perhaps I will invest a little experience in the matter as well. I should remember well enough for that, I think.

Should I say I'm looking forward to your performance, then? Because I am.

[ All the world's a stage and they are the players, truly.

And it's a good chance to see just how good Jack is at lying. For all intents and purposes the two of them are working together through this, but push come to shove it is important to know who you are truly dealing with. ]

I did see use in your little get-together. After the exhaustion of such elongated heated debate, it seems people are more willing to divulge their insecurities. Additionally, you generally project a more positive attitude than I myself could imagine doing, so you are a good candidate for the heart of the community.

[ A rotten rotten heart. ]
